State funding unlocks significant federal grant for ‘DA BUX’

Hawai‘i's impactful food access program “DA BUX” has been awarded major federal funding that will expand fresh food access for local families through 2026. Thanks to state and philanthropic support that unlocked the federal dollars, The Food Basket recently secured $8.4 million — the second-highest amount nationwide — from the USDA's Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program.

Aloha Tower welcomes second NEVI-funded EV charging station

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation recently opened the state’s second electric vehicle charging station funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. The $3.5 million station, located at the Aloha Tower Marketplace on Oʻahu, features four 150-kilowatt direct current fast chargers with CCS and CHAdeMO connectors.
