The Aloha State gets electrified during National Drive Electric Week
Sep 27, 2023
A big mahalo to all those who joined us last weekend at statewide events kicking off National Drive Electric Week! These fun and educational events took place on Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Hawaii Island, thanks to a partnership between Drive Electric Hawaii, Hawaii EV Association and Telsa Hawaii Club.
Residents learned about the incredible environmental and financial benefits of electric vehicle (EV) adoption and other electric transportation options, including e-bikes. They had the opportunity to take an EV for a spin and heard from EV owners firsthand about ownership and charging. Attendees also discovered the newest renewable energy systems and local charging infrastructure and were able to explore tax incentives and rebates for new and used EVs, e-bikes, chargers and energy systems. Each event also provided the opportunity for guests to participate in fun activities and the chance to win great prizes!
The Oahu event at Ka Makana Alii in Kapolei saw many enthusiasts come out in support of EV ownership. The group reported a total of nearly 460,000 electric miles driven collectively.
Hawaii has made a commitment to adopting cleaner, more sustainable modes of transportation. The state has the second-highest rate of EV adoption in the nation, with nearly 2% of all registered vehicles being electric. As of August 2023, there were more than 27,000 registered EVs, more than a 30% increase from 2022. EV adoption is just one of the many ways state residents can contribute to our state’s goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2045. Way to go Hawaii!
