Join the Commute Challenge in August

Ulupono Initiative is pleased to be a sponsor of Blue Planet Foundation’s 2023 Hawaii Commute Challenge: Go Multimodal, which takes place throughout the month of August. This is the perfect opportunity for Hawaii residents and businesses to explore a variety of sustainable transportation options for themselves and their families, whether it's walking, biking, taking public transportation or carpooling.

Did you know that transportation accounts for nearly two thirds of fossil fuel usage in the state and has a large impact on greenhouse gas emissions? The Aloha State is not currently on track to achieve a 50% reduction in fossil fuel emissions by 2030, which is the year that climate scientists have identified as necessary to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

Please join us in reducing our carbon footprint and helping Hawaii achieve a more sustainable future. Challenge participants will be contributing to a clean transportation future by reducing carbon pollution, helping alleviate traffic congestion, saving money on gas, parking, insurance and vehicle registration. Additionally, they will enjoy the physical and mental health benefits that come from being outside and getting exercise.
