Farm Link Hawaii
Farm Link Hawaii is increasing Hawaii’s local food supply by developing markets.
In 2017, Ulupono Initiative provided $65,000 to Farm Link Hawaii. The majority of the funds were used to purchase a refrigerated van that allowed an increase in deliveries and efficiencies. The remaining funds were used to support market development, which is an integral part of Farm Link Hawaii’s growth plan.
Founded in 2014, Farm Link Hawaii connects local farmers to grocers, restaurants, caterers, and other food service businesses through a web platform that handles transactions for local produce. Farm Link Hawaii leverages its network of dozens of small local farmers to deliver fresh produce to more than 135 buyers, including Foodland Farms and Square Barrels restaurant.
Why We Invested
Farm Link Hawaii aligns with Ulupono’s interest in increasing Hawaii’s local food supply by developing markets, as it supports local farmers and provides consumers with an opportunity to get local products through innovative distribution.
“With Ulupono’s support, we were able to acquire critical infrastructure that has allowed us to better coordinate with small and new ag producers. It will also help us to eventually expand our operations with additional days of service.”
