HONOLULU – (May 10, 2016) – Hawai‘i-based impact investment group Ulupono Initiative today announced newest members of its investment and communications teams.
John Cowen has joined Ulupono as a senior analyst, a newly created position that supports Ulupono’s investment efforts. His role includes evaluating investments, performing due diligence, creating and maintaining financial models, structuring transactions and working with each organization to help it succeed.
A graduate of Punahou, Cowen earned his Bachelor of Science in Management with concentrations in Finance and Economics from Boston College. Prior to Ulupono, Cowen was the manager of energy economics at Energy Industries Corporation, a provider of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions to businesses, governments and institutions.
Jennifer Lieu has joined Ulupono Initiative as a communications specialist. She is primarily responsible for Ulupono’s digital strategy, including managing social accounts and platforms, and engaging in community and partner dialogue to support Ulupono’s vision and mission. She also assists with the overall communications planning and tactics.
Lieu brings with her more than ten years of marketing and communications experience in Hawai‘i. Prior to joining the company, Lieu served as a sales operation supervisor for HMSA and a marketing coordinator for Olomana Loomis ISC. A graduate of Kaimuki High School, Lieu earned her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in marketing/promotions from the University of Hawai‘i.
